Harvest Forecast | Harvest 2025

Johann OlivierHarvest Report

In the lead up to the Festive Season, things started to quiet down in the cellar and vineyard, allowing us time to reflect on the accomplishments of 2024, while at the same time feeling the excitement of harvest later this month building. We were blessed in 2024 with another good winter with rain, good health in the vineyards and with good growth.

The black south-easter has been quiet and the crop looks promising – more than 2023. Exciting!!

We are predicting that harvest will start in the 4th week of January. A week later than usual, due to the late budding in spring after the wet winter. The weather currently is great, warm days and rather cool nights.

You might have heard the French term “veraison”(the onset of the ripening)which marks the time that the grape berries transition from the ‘berry growth’ to the ‘berry ripening’ stage. Our Pinotage vines are changing colour from green to red,  and our Viognier vines from green to yellow.

Irrigation is all that is happening at the moment to keep the vineyards from stressing and keeping them happy until the grapes reach optimal ripeness.

We still have a few wines to bottle at the start of this month to make space for the coming vintage…

Then it is: Ready, Set, Go for Harvest 2025!
