ADOPT A TREE
We are very proud to announce the Wellington Preparatory School & College’s fundraising with their ‘Adopt a Tree’ Initiative. This letter serves to give you more information.
Kindly note that these mature trees have already been purchased by the De Beer family of Diemersfontein, so no monies raised through this initiative will be used to offset the cost of the trees themselves. Every donation of R10,000-00 to adopt a tree in your name, or the name of your company, will go directly to the Sponsorship Fund. Donors will receive a plaque commemorating their support as well as a photo at the tree planting ceremony.
The WPS & C Trust was created in 2005 to offer scholarships to deserving previously disadvantaged children to attend our small independent school. At present, about 10% of our learners receive full or partial sponsorship. All sponsored children are carefully selected from families that could not otherwise afford our fees. Kind individuals like yourself, as well as some companies, pay into the Trust annually or as once off donations. The identity of sponsored children is kept secret, not even the teachers know who is sponsored. We send out a sponsors newsletter twice a year to update our sponsors on the sponsorship programme.Â
We accept children into the sponsorship programme based on offers of support. We review all sponsorships annually but once a child enters the sponsorship programme, often when they are as young as three years old, we attempt to offer them scholarships until they leave secondary school (18 years old).
Many of our children who received sponsorship when they were with us have gone on to study at university. It really is a joy and privilege to see children grow and flourish in our small and nurturing school. We really hope and trust that, with your support, we can make a very real difference in their young lives. The donations as payment for sponsored trees will be used exclusively for the Sponsorship programme.Â
Financial Accountability
Both the Trust and the School are audited annually. There are no admin fees or hidden costs. Every cent donated is used to offset the school fees and other costs of deserving children. The Trust is a registered PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) and NPO (Non Profit Organisation) so donations are tax deductible in South Africa.
