Greeted by the upbeat sounds of the ‘Ama Ambush’ marimbas, guests sampled the new vintage release that flowed ‘on tap’ from oak barrels. Chef Johan van Schalkwyk and his team presented delicious canapés to complement the wine, braais to sate appetites and mounds of strawberries dipped in melted chocolate for a sweet taste sensation.

Cases of wine were given away as prizes to the winners of various fun games such as Pin the Pino on the Vino, Graffiti – in Praise of Pinotage, Adopt a Pet Pinotage plant and a Barrel in One. Wellington Preparatory School, situated on the estate, benefited from funds raised at an auction, where the successful bid won a gourmet dinner for 10 prepared by Diemersfontein’s Chef and Winemaker (off to Johannesburg this year)!

Prime Circle with their big rock sounds and Cape Town’s Fly Paper Jet entertained the crowds and as the sun set on this beautiful wine estate, Pinotage on Tap 2007, and the new release Pinotage in particular, was acknowledged by many as the best ever.
