Organised by Diemersfontein Wines, Pinotage on Tap, now in its third year, will be held in both Cape Town (29 September) and Gauteng (9 September). Diemersfontein themes this unique half-day event around the popular Pinotage and has been heralded by Wine Tourism News as ‘the best wine event in South Africa’. The new vintage flows from large oak barrels stationed around the venue and a variety of taste sensations are offered around to match with the wine. Chocolate fountains and strawberries and pinotage/chocolate slammers are also great favourites on the day. In step with the theme, Pinotage punters are asked to take up challenges that highlight the wine – A Barrel in One (golf with a difference), Pin the Bunch on the Vine, name your Pet Pinotage and Pinotage Graffiti are just some of the games that see winners walk away with cases of the Pinotage.

To keep the Pinotage fans upbeat and in a celebratory mood, this year’s events will profile in Gauteng the well-known band - Prime Circle - and Siphokazi, best newcomer at the SAAMA awards this year and will add a soul, jazz and gospel flavour to the day. In Cape Town, Prime Circle will also be entertaining the crowd, Fly Paper Jet – a 4-man band that fuses pop, jazz and other genres and just back from a successful gig in at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, and our favourite group with their welcoming vibe – AmaAmbush Marimba Band.

In the mix with the flowing wine, delicious food, fun challenges and great sounds visitors will also be able to buy fun ‘tongue in cheek’ merchandise – chocolate lipsticks, caps and T-shirts, badges and Pinotage truffles, gluwein and salamis.
