PINOTAGE ON TAP 2007 – GAUTENG
Posted on the: 2007-09-18
The launch of the new vintage release of the Diemersfontein ‘coffee and chocolate’ Pinotage, held in Gauteng at Casalinga last Sunday, 9 September, saw a 1000 wine lovers enjoying the 2007 release ‘on tap’ in large oak barrels that were trucked up for the occasion from the Cape winelands.
With the great weather, music by Siphokazi and Prime Circle, pasta, fun golf challenges and even the world cup rugby Springbok win, the Pinotage was released in surrounds that best complements its characteristics. Mocha coffee, black chocolate with undertones of caramelized banana and blackcurrant, the Diemersfontein Pinotage which, in spite of a number of attempts to emulate the wine since its inception in 2001, maintains its place as the People’s Pinotage and continues to be ordered by both loyal and new converts.
“Launching the new vintage release of our Pinotage is always such special fun and memorable to us here on the estate. You know at Pinotage on Tap that all those long hours and hard work in the cellar, the special handling and attention to detail that goes into the production, is all worth while when you see the reaction at the launch”, comments David Sonnenberg, owner of Diemersfontein Wines.
